The Liberty Blue Jays survived an overtime thriller 61-59 over Truman High School in the semi-final of the Patterson Division in the American Family Insurance Holiday Classic at William Jewell College.
Truman led for most of the game until Cody Winters drained a three-point shot with :50 seconds left in regulation to give the Blue Jays a 52-51 lead. Truman was able to tie the game and force overtime.
In the overtime with the game tied at 59 Liberty's Kellan Turner drove and nailed a 10 foot jump shot with 2.9 seconds to play which ended up being the game winner. Truman was 17-31 from the free throw line for the game.
The Blue Jays were led in scoring by Turner who scored a game high 25 points.
Dewayne Thornton led the Patriots with 20 points and Lane Titus pitched in 18.
Liberty will now play Rockhurst in the Patterson Division Championship at 9:00 p.m. tomorrow.
