The Cardinal men dropped a 77-69 decision to Wisconsin-Parkside in Kenosha, Wis., in a matchup of teams leading the GLVC's two divisions.
Jewell (6-6, 2-2 GLVC) had an early seven point lead against the Rangers (9-3, 4-0), but were down by six points at half. In the second half, Parkside stretched their lead to as many as 13 points late in the game, and had to hold of the Cardinals down the stretch.
The Cardinals shot 40% from the field in the game, while Parkside shot 42%. UWP hit 20-23 free throws while Jewll hit only 12-21.
For Jewell, Dwight Sistrunk had 19 points, seven points and seven rebounds. Dillon Deck had 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Devonte Bell had 14 points and John Taylor added 13.
Thursday night, the Cardinals return to the Mabee Center for a 7:15 game against Maryville, followed by home games on Saturday and Monday afternoons.
