William Jewell Men's Basketball

The William Jewell Cardinal men's basketball team exchanged the lead with Lewis University 17 times in the course of the game, and used 73% free throw shooting, to hold off the Flyers in Romeoville, Illinois Thursday night 73-69.

The Cardinals (6-5, 2-1 in the GLVC) hit 12-14 free throws in the second half, and 16-24 in the game, to knock off Lewis (7-4, 1-2).

Ricky Tisdale had 17 points for the Cardinals, and Dillon Deck 16 more, as Jewell won back-to-back games for the first time this year.  Dwight Sistrunk had 10 points, and Cyril Bilong added 10 second half points in the win.

Down the stretch, Jewell used key free throw shooting from Devonte Bell and Tisdale, as well as a put-back basket by Deck off a missed free throw, to hold off the Flyers in the first ever meeting between the teams.

Jewell led by four at the half.

The Cardinals play in Kenosha, Wisconsin Saturday with a 3:15 p.m. tipoff scheduled with Wisconsin-Parkside.
