William Jewell Men's Basketball

A quick start by Jewell men's basketball against Quincy University on Saturday was overcome by the Hawks in front of a vocal crowd at Pepsi Arena in Quincy, with the Hawks winning 83-60.

The Cardinals(8-9, 4-5 GLVC) led by 12 points with 15:25 left in the first half, only to see Quincy (8-9, 3-6) come back and take a seven point lead to the locker room at the half behind 50% shooting in the first period.  The hot shooting continued in the second half, as the Hawks hit 13-21 shots (62%) along with making 18-21 free throws.  In addition, Quincy hit eight of their 13 three-point shots in the game.

 

Jewell shot 38% for the game, and only six of 25 three pointers.

 

Dillon Deck had 15 points for Jewell, while Devonte Bell had 11 and Craig Mattson had 10. 

 

The Cardinals host GLVC West-leading Drury on Thursday night at the Mabee Center.
