MVC MEN'S WRESTLING RANKED NO. 8 IN LATEST COACHES' POLL
Marshall, Mo. (February 21, 2013)- The Missouri Valley College men's wrestling team moved down one spot to the No. 8 ranking in the final regular season edition of the NAIA Wrestling Coaches' Top 20 Poll. The Vikings fell despite coming in second place at the Midwest Qualifying Tournament held last weekend, finishing behind No. 1 Grand View University.
Also released were the final regular season individual rankings in each weight class. The Vikings had 10 members of their team ranked: Freshman Ryan Sterns (Williston, Vt.) moved up one spot to No. 9 at 125 pounds; Sophomore Logan Welch (Lexington, Mo.) dropped five spots to No. 14 at 133 pounds; Freshman Todd Brackett (Farmington, Mo.) moved up three spots to No. 13 in the 141 pound weight class; Freshman Jake Ekster (Houston, Texas) stayed ranked No. 4 at 149 pounds; Freshman Dylan King (Hamilton, Mo.) jumped up two spots to No. 12 at 157 pounds; Senior Gian Traverso (St. Helena, Calif.) moved down two spots to No. 9 at 165 pounds; Junior Josh Manu (North Providence, R.I.) takes over the No. 1 ranking at 197 pounds; Junior Carl Lawrence (Sullivan, Mo.) bumped up two spots to No. 6 in the 197 pound weight class; Junior Daniel Mueller (Collinsville, Ill.) dropped to the No. 12 and Senior James Alter (Kirksville, Mo.) sits at No. 15 at 285 pounds.
All 10 Vikings currently ranked and Freshman Brett Bader (Farmington, Mo.) will compete at the NAIA National Tournament in Des Moines, Iowa March 1-2.
