MVC MEN'S WRESTLING RISES TO NO. 7 IN LATEST COACHES' POLL

Marshall, Mo. (February 7, 2013)-  The Missouri Valley College men's wrestling team moved up three spots to the No. 7 ranking in this week's NAIA Men's Wrestling Coaches' Top 20 Poll.  Since the last rankings were released in late January the Vikings have scored dual victories against Benedictine College and NCAA Division II Maryville University, had four individuals win their respective weight classes at the MVC Open, and lost a dual to No. 1 Grand View University.

Other notable teams ranked in this week's poll include Baker University ranked No. 14, Missouri Baptist University, a team MVC defeated in a dual earlier this season, ranked No. 12, and Benedictine College in the "others receiving votes" category.

Also released were the individual rankings in each weight class.  The Vikings have 10 members of their team ranked:  Freshman Ryan Sterns (Williston, Vt.) moved up four spots to No. 10 at 125 pounds; Sophomore Logan Welch (Lexington, Mo.) bumped up one spot to No. 9 at 133 pounds; Freshman Todd Brackett (Farmington, Mo.) is now ranked in the 141 pound weight class at No. 16; Freshman Jake Ekster (Houston, Texas) is up three spots to No. 4 at 149 pounds;  Freshman Dylan King (Hamilton, Mo.) dropped in the rankings to No. 14 at 157 pounds; Senior Gian Traverso (St. Helena, Calif.) moved down two spots to No. 7 at 165 pounds; Freshman Brett Bader (Farmington, Mo.) is now ranked at No. 16 in the 184 pound weight class; Junior Josh Manu (North Providence, R.I.) is up one spot to No. 4 at 197 pounds; Junior Carl Lawrence (Sullivan, Mo.) bumped up two spots to No. 9 in the 197 pound weight class; and Junior Daniel Mueller (Collinsville, Ill.) stayed ranked No. 6 at 285 pounds.
