William Jewell Women's Basketball 2/14/13

A three-point shot with no time remaining in the game lifted University of Missouri-St. Louis (13-9, 8-6 GLVC) to a 71-69 win over William Jewell (13-9, 7-7 GLVC) in Great Lakes Valley Conference women's basketball action in St. Louis.  


Jewell's Chelsea Meeks nailed a three pointer with one second left to put the Cards up 69-68.  The Tritons then called timeout and Angela Johnson hit a three pointer as time expired to give the Tritons the win. 

 

Meeks scored a game high 21 points and Jesse Wheeler came off the bench to record 14 points.  Rosa Hof was the third Cardinal in double figures with 12 points. 

Devonna Smith scored a 19 points to lead the Tritons, who had 13 points from Johnson.

 

The Cardinals made 23-of-49 field goals for 46.9 percent, including 5-of-13 (38.5 percent) from three-point range.


The Tritons out rebounded Jewell, 42-28.


The Cardinals will travel to across town in St. Louis, Mo., on Saturday, February 16, to square off with Maryville University at 1:00 p.m.
