William Jewell Women's Basketball

Three Cardinals scored in double figures as the William Jewell College women's basketball team defeated Drury University, 71-64, to win their second straight game. Junior Chelsea Meeks scored a game high 26 points while junior Jessie Wheeler knocked in 13 and senior Katlyn Wood contributed 12. 


Jewell (14-9; 9-7) trailed 10-4 in the first seven minutes of the contest before roaring back to take a 14-13 lead with 9:45.  Jewell would maintain the lead the rest of the half and would take a 35-26 advantage into the break.

Drury (12-11; 6-9) was unable to grab a lead for the rest of the game and Jewell shot 20-22 free-throws in the second half to help preserve the win.

For Drury, Bethanie Funderburk finished with 11 points while Katie Pritchard and Emile Gray scored 10 points each.   

The Cardinals return home to face Missouri S&T in the regular season home finale on Saturday, February 23 at 1:00 p.m.
