Marshall, Mo. (March 11, 2013)- The Missouri Valley College softball team took a road trip to Tucson, Ariz.to compete in the Tucson Invitational. MVC will play eight games in four days competing in two games each day. On day one action Monday the Lady Vikings played against Judson University (Elgin, Ill.) and No. 2 Lubbock Christian University (Lubbock, Texas). Judson took the first game 3-11 and Lubbock Christian took the second 6-15.
Game one the Lady Vikings fought hard but fell short in five innings against Judson University 3-11.
Game two the Lady Vikings faced No. 2 Lubbock Christian. MVC stayed close in the first inning 2-3, giving up three runs in the second to make the score 8-2 after four complete innings. The Lady Vikings had a productive fifth inning bringing themselves within two runs 8-6, but Lubbock Christian put together a rally of their own in the bottom of the fourth inning to take the game 6-15 in six innings. Junior Kayla Mochizuki went 2 for 4 with two RBI's and one run, while Junior Logan Stapp (Washington, Mo.) went 2 for 3 with two RBI's and one run for MVC.
The Lady Vikings drop to 0-2 on the season while Judson University improves to 1-0 while Lubbock Christian improves to 19-6 overall. Next up for the Lady Vikings is another two game day Tuesday against Mayville State University at 1:30pm and Purdue University North Central at 3:30pm.
