William Jewell Tennis

The William Jewell College women's tennis team opened its spring break trip with a 9-0 victory over Bloomsburg University Monday afternoon in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. 


Jewell moves to 7-1 on the spring while Bloomsburg drops to 1-3 on the season.  The Cards have won three straight and seven of their first eight on the spring.

The Cardinals used six straight set wins in singles play before posting a sweep of all three doubles flights to post the 9-0 win. Kristen Stivers posted a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles, while Hana Lindbloom scored a 7-5, 6-3 win in the No. 2 position.

Savannah Drew (No. 3), Katy Lehenbauer(No. 4), Loree Hazelrigg (No. 5), and Carli Bisesi (No. 6) all were straight set winners for Jewell in singles competition.

The Cardinals swept the doubles action winning 8-2 at No. 1, 8-1 at No. 2 and 8-4 at No. 3.

 Jewell returns to play Tuesday with a match against Kutztown University at 3:00 p.m.

Jewell swept doubles action winning 8-2 at No.1, 8-1 at No. 2 and 8-0 at No. 3. 

Junior Shane Giannetti won his match 6-0, 6-1 at No.1 singles and junior Bryan Thomas won his match 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2. 
Bronson Brassel (No.3), Michael Rawat (No.4), Jimmy Hunter (No. 5) and Max Cooper (No. 6) all won in straight sets for the Cardinals. 

Jewell returns to play Tuesday with a match against Kutztown University at 3:00 p.m.
