The William Jewell College men's tennis team completed a 2-1 week at Hilton Head Island with Wednesday's 9-0 shutout over Millersville University in the final match of the Spring Break Bash.
The Cardinals (5-4) swept all three doubles matches, including an 8-2 pro set win by the No. 2 pairing of Bronson Brassel and Max Cooper as they defeated Tucker Mertz and Dylon Ryan.
Jewell also got doubles points by the No. 3 duo of Dean Pinhas and Chris Reimer, and the No. 1 pairing of Shane Giannetti and Bryan Thomas.
The Cardinals swept singles action as each player won in straight sets.
Jewell will return to action on Wednesday, March 27 as they open up Great Lakes Valley Conference play against Rockhurst University at Clayview Country Club.
The William Jewell College women's tennis team (9-1) won its fifth straight match with a 9-0 win over Millersville University (3-6) on Wednesday in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
Jewell started off strong sweeping all six singles matches. Savannah Drew (No. 3), Katy Lehenbauer (No. 4), Loree Hazelrigg (No. 5) and Carli Bisesi (No. 6) were all straight set winners for the Cards. Kristen Stivers won a tough three-set battle 6-0, 4-6, 10-5 at No. 1 singles while Hana Lindbloom survived a three-set match winning 6-0, 3-6, 10-5.
Jewell also swept the doubles to take as Stivers and Lehenbauer captured an 8-4 win at No. 1, Loree and Conner Hazelrigg came back to win a tough 8-6 battle at No. 2 doubles and Hana Lindbloom and Jaimie Baker earned a point by winning 8-2 at No. 3 doubles.
William Jewell will return to action against Indiana University of Pennsylvania on Friday at 8:00 a.m. to close out their spring break trip in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
