MVC WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL DEFEATED BY BAKER TUESDAY NIGHT

 

 

Marshall, Mo. (September 17, 2013)- The Missouri Valley College women's volleyball team went on the road Tuesday night for a Heart of America Athletic Conference match with Baker University.  Baker is in the "others receiving votes" category of the latest NAIA Volleyball Coaches' Top 25 Poll.  The Vikings were dealt their first loss of the season, losing to Baker 19-25, 21-25, 22-25.  The loss also snaps a 20-game regular season winning streak dating back to last year for MVC

 

The Vikings were led by Junior Outside Hitter Rebecca Jones (Simi Valley, Calif.) who finished with 12 kills and Freshman Outside Hitter Lauren Eldridge (Kansas City, Mo.) who had 10 kills.  Also, Senior Middle Blocker Jada Hollinshead (Tunnel Hill, Ill.) had eight kills while Senior Libero Diane Dellasalla (Houston, Texas) finished with 21 digs.  Senior Setter Tarrah Sweet (Roswell, N.M.) recorded a double-double of 32 assists and 10 digs.

 

The 3-0 loss for MVC drops the Vikings to 10-1 overall and 1-1 in HAAC play on the season.  Baker improves to 12-6 overall and 2-0 in conference play.

 

The Vikings will next travel to Des Moines, Iowa for a non-conference matchup with AIB Thursday at 7:00 p.m. for their last match of the week.
