TWO VIKING MEN'S SOCCER STUDENT-ATHLETES NAMED ALL-AMERICANS

Marshall, Mo. (December 10, 2013)- Two Missouri Valley College men's soccer student-athletes have been named NAIA Men's Soccer All-Americans for their play during the 2013 season.  Senior Midfielder Miguel Jimenez (Madrid, Spain) was a first team all-American selection and Senior Forward Nicholas Alexander (Manchester, England) was a second team selection.

Jimenez earned his second-straight first team all-American selection.  This season he helped lead the Vikings to a 13-5-4 record, and the program's first ever win in the NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship Tournament over the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma.  Jimenez scored six goals and collected three assists on the season and scored MVC's first goal in the National tournament second round match against Hastings (Neb.) College.  He becomes the first player in program history to be named to two all-American teams.  In addition to his all-American selection, Jimenez was named first team all-conference in the Heart of America Athletic Conference and was named the HAAC's 2013 Offensive Player of the Year.

Alexander becomes just the third player in program history to earn an all-American selection.  On the season, Alexander led the team in shots (105), shots on goal (53), goals (14), points (32) and games played (21).  He led the HAAC in points, goals, shots and shots on goal.  His best game was against Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) University when he scored three goals and added one assist for the Vikings.  In addition to his all-American selection, Alexander was a 2013 first team all-conference selection.

"This is a great honor and achievement for both Miguel and Nicholas," said Head Coach Vladimir Simic.  "These two have been great leaders of this program over the past four years, taking this team to new heights.  They both deserve this recognition."

The only other Viking to receive an all-American selection was Eduardo Da Silva who was selected to the all-American second team following the 2011 season.
