MVC MENS VOLLEYBALL FALLS TMVC MENS VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO PARK UNIVERSITY
Marshall, Mo. (March 20, 2013)- The No. 10 Missouri Valley College men's volleyball team took on No. 1 Park University Wednesday night at Burns Athletic Complex. The Vikings honored their two seniors Rightside Hitter Thomas Jerrom (San Jose, Calif.) and Libero Aaron "Ka'aiwaihia-Ebanez" Robinson (Waianae, Hawaii). MVC fought hard with Park but fell 3-1.
The Missouri Valley College men's volleyball team battled in the first two matches with Park but fell just short 21-25 and 19-25. The Vikings rallied early in the third to take the set 25-22. The fourth match went back and forth with neither team leading by more than three points, but Park took the final set 24-26 to take the match.
Junior Outside Hitter Jacob Pederson (San Jose, Calif.) finished with eight kills and two blocks, while Junior Middle Blocker Jacob Haar (La Mesa, Calif.) had 11 kills and four blocks. Senior Libero Aaron "Ka'aiwaihia-Ebanez" Robinson (Waianae, Hawaii) had nine digs, and Junior Setter Will McCracken (Goleta, Calif.) had 41 assists and three blocks.
"I am extremely proud of our effort after set two, said Head Coach Brett Holt. We were a couple plays from forcing a set five. I challenged the guys in the locker room before set three and they responded. A big thanks to our crowd. It was the biggest all year and they had a lot of energy."
The loss drops the Vikings to 14-8 overall and 3-5 in MAMVIC play. Park improves to 18-0 overall and 6-0 in conference play. The Vikings will be in action again Saturday when they travel to Dubuque Iowa to play in the Clarke Quad. MVC plays Cardinal Stritch at 11am, Clarke College at 1pm, and Robert Morris College 3pm.
