MVC RODEO TEAMS UP WITH FITZGIBBON HOSPITAL FOR STAMPEDE RODEO

Marshall, Mo. (September 23, 2013)- The Missouri Valley College Rodeo team will host the annual MVC Viking Rodeo Stampede this week at the Saline County Fairgrounds in Marshall, Mo.  The Stampede Rodeo is the only home event of the year for the MVC rodeo team and marks the beginning of the 2013-2014 rodeo season.

This year, in conjunction with the event the rodeo program is partnering with Fitzgibbon Hospital to raise funds and awareness for local cancer programs.  The rodeo team has created a limited edition pink bandana featuring the rodeo program's logo and the phrase "Tuff Enuf to Wear Pink".  Thursday night at the Stampede Rodeo is going to be called "Tuff Enuf to Wear Pink Night", and people in attendance are asked to wear their bandanas.

"We are teaming up with Fitzgibbon hospital to help raise funds and awareness for cancer programs", says Head Coach Ken Mason.  "It seems as though cancer has affected the lives of everyone in one way or another and this is our chance to help."

The pink bandanas are being sold at the MVC Bookstore, Fitzgibbon Hospital Gift Shop, and at nightly at the Stampede Rodeo for five dollars.  Proceeds from the bandana sales will benefit Fitzgibbon Hospital Cancer Awareness Programs.

The 2013 MVC Viking Stampede Rodeo takes place Thursday through Saturday at 7:00 p.m. nightly at the Saline County Fairgrounds in Marshall, Mo.  Admission each night is $10 for adults, $5 for kids up to age 12, $5 for MVC students with valid student I.D., and kids five and under are free.

Spectators are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs for the event, and concessions will be available at the fairgrounds.
