MVC WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL PICKS UP PAIR OF TRIANGULAR WINS

 

 

Marshall, Mo. (September 28, 2013)- The Missouri Valley College women's volleyball team had a short turnaround after defeated Heart of America Athletic Conference foe Central Methodist University last night, playing in two afternoon matches at the McPherson Triangular in McPherson, Kan.  The Vikings defeated Bethany College 25-14, 25-14, 25-21 and beat McPherson College 25-22, 25-20, 25-15.

 

In the 3-0 win over Bethany the Vikings were led by Junior Middle Blocker Taylor Trotter (Bartonville, Ill.) who had 12 kills and six blocks.  Junior Outside Hitter Kaitlyn Kell (Raymondville, Mo.) and Freshman Outside Hitter Lauren Eldridge (Kansas City, Mo.) combined for 12 kills while Senior Libero Diane Dellasalla (Houston, Texas) finished with 15 digs.  Senior Setter Tarrah Sweet (Roswell, N.M.) had 35 assists in the match.

 

In the second match of the day, a 3-0 win over host McPherson, the Vikings were led by Senior Outside Hitter Ana Calito (Rio de Janiero, Brazil) who had a double-double of 12 kills and 12 digs.  Trotter finished with 12 kills, while Junior Outside Hitter Rebecca Jones (Simi Valley, Calif.) added 18 kills.  Dellasalla had another 13 digs from her Libero position and Sweet added a double-double of 43 assists and 11 digs.

 

The pair of wins improves MVC to 14-1 on the season.

 

The Vikings will next play at home Tuesday Oct. 1 hosting Evangel University in a HAAC matchup.  The match is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Burns Athletic Complex.
