MVC WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL DROPS ROAD MATCH AT GRACELAND
Marshall, Mo. (October 22, 2013)- The Missouri Valley College women's volleyball team went on the road to Graceland University Tuesday evening for a Heart of America Athletic Conference matchup. It was a close, hard fought match between the two, but Graceland came away with a 3-1 victory.
The Vikings were able to grab and early 1-0 lead over the Yellowjackets to begin the match, but Graceland held on to take the final three games, eventually knocking off MVC 25-23, 21-25, 23-25, 23-25. The loss snapped a six match winning streak for the Vikings.
Leading the way for MVC was Freshman Outside Hitter Lauren Eldridge (Kansas City, Mo.) who finished with 15 kills and five digs. Junior Outside Hitter Rebecca Jones (Simi Valley, Calif.) chipped in with 11 kills while Senior Outside Hitter Ana Calito (Rio de Janiero, Brazil) had 14 digs. Senior Setter Tarrah Sweet (Roswell, N.M.) finished with a double-double of 44 assists and 10 digs while Senior Libero Diane Dellasala (Houston, Texas) finished with 21 digs.
The Vikings fall to 23-3 overall on the season and 4-2 in HAAC play. Graceland improves to 18-7 overall and 4-3 in conference play.
The Vikings travel to Benedictine College Thursday for a 7:00 p.m. match.
