William Jewell College Women Defeat the Saint Joseph College Pumas 76-62

The William Jewell College women's basketball team used a strong second half run to defeat the Saint Joseph College Pumas 76-62 in Great Lakes Valley Conference Action on Saturday in Liberty, Mo.  Jewell improves to 7-3 overall and 1-1 in GLVC play while the Pumas fall to 1-9 and 0-2 in the GLVC. 
Jewell came out of the gate leading 13-4 hitting with their first nine points as three-pointers.  After a couple of back and forth scores, the Pumas then went on a 12-4 run to cut the lead to one.  The Pumas kept fighting back and then grabbed their first and only lead of the game with 4:57 to go in the first half when Lexy Carson hit a three pointer.    Carson would end up with 17 first half points. 
Cassy Nicolay hit a layup with 16 seconds to go in the first half to give the Cardinals a 35-34 lead at the half.
The Cards came out of the locker room firing on all cylinders going on a 16-3 run that broke the game open and never allowed the Puma's back in the game.  The Cardinals were also able to hold Carson scoreless for the entire second half of action. 
Rosa Hoff led four Cardinals in double figures with 16 points.  Katlyn Wood, Chelsea Meeks and Aerial Smith scored 15, 13 and 10 respectively.
The Cardinals will travel to Romeoville, Ill., on Thursday to take on Lewis University.  Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
