The William Jewell College women's basketball team used a strong bench and hot second half three point shooting to upend University of Wisconsin-Parkside 64-61 in Great Lakes Valley Conference action in Kenosha, Wis., on Saturday.
The Cards were able to build a seven point at halftime and were able to build a lead as much as 10 late in the second half before the Rangers rallied to make it close. The Cardinal bench outscored the Ranger bench 19-4 in the contest and 11-0 in the second half. Jewell also shot 6-10 from three point land in the second half.
Four Cardinals (8-4, 2-2) recorded double-digit scoring efforts. Senior Katlyn Wood was Jewell's top scoring threat with 18 points, junior Jessie Wheeler scored 17 and junior Cassy Nicolay and sophomore Aerial Smith had 10 points each.
The Cardinals return home to host Maryville University on Thursday, January 17 at 5:30 p.m.
