William Jewell Women's Basketball 2/2/13

The William Jewell College women's basketball team had its three-game win streak snapped in a 64-55 loss at Missouri S&T on Saturday.

The Maroons fell to 12-7 overall and 6-5 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.  The Miners improved to 12-7 overall and 8-3 in conference action.  Jewell jumped out to a 8-2 lead, and led 30-26 going into halftime shooting 56.5 percent from the field.

In the second half, the Cardinals were held to 30.7 percent from the field and the Miners took advantage of the poor shooting hitting 54.1 percent from the field and were 5-6 from three-point land.   The Miners also finished with a 36-22 rebounding advantage.

The Cards were led in scoring by Chelsea Meeks who scored 21 points.  Aerial Smith tossed in 14 points and had four steals.

William Jewell will return home to host Quincy University on Thursday, February 7 at 5:30 p.m. at the Mabee Center on the Jewell campus in Liberty, Mo.
