The William Jewell men's basketball team (9-10, 5-6 GLVC) won their third road game of the year, leading from buzzer to buzzer in defeating Missouri Science & Technology 89-74 in Rolla, Missouri.
The Cardinals jumped on the Miners (6-12, 2-9) for an early 6-0 lead, led by 19 in the first half, and led by five at the halftime break. The Cardinals were outshot from the field (45% to 42%) and outrebounded (44-33) but forced 14 turnovers while only committing six, and hit 30-38 free throws in the game.
John Taylor had 18 points for the Cardinals despite foul trouble limiting him to 15 minutes of play; Devonte Bell had 17 points, Dwight Sistrunk had 10 points and Clint McCough had 10 more for Jewell.
Jewell returns to the Mabee Center on Thursday for a matchup with Quincy University starting at 7:15 p.m. It will be Duck Dynasty Night at the Mabee Center, sponsored by Roger's Sporting Goods of Liberty.
