MVC RODEO TEAMS COMPETE IN ARKANSAS OVER THE WEEKEND
Marshall, Mo. (March 18, 2013)- The Missouri Valley College rodeo teams continued their spring 2013 schedule by taking part in the University of Arkansas-Monticello rodeo over the weekend. The men's team took second overall behind the University of Tennessee-Martin, and the Lady Vikings took fifth place.
Individually for the men's team two Vikings took first in their respective competitions. Sophomore Tim O'Connell (Zwingle, Iowa) won the bareback riding competition and Senior Cody Metsker (Taylorville, Ill.) won the steer wrestling competition. Other top finishers for the men's team included Junior Ben Runyon (Tallula, Ill.) who took third in team roping and Freshman Coleman Rude (Silver Lake, Ind.) who took third in bull riding.
On the women's side, Senior Kelsey Davis (Belmont, N.C.) took second in breakaway roping and Junior Mackenzie Corrigan (Toddville, Iowa) took third in goat tying.
The men's rodeo team currently sits in second place in the Ozark Region standings and the women's team is in fourth place following the weekend's rodeo.
The MVC rodeo team will be in action March 21-23 at the East Mississippi Community College Rodeo in West Point, Miss.
