VIKING RODEO COMPETES AT WEST ALABAMA

 

 

Marshall, Mo. (October 21, 2013)- The Missouri Valley College rodeo program went on the road over the weekend to the West Alabama rodeo in Livingston, Ala.  The men's team placed third while the women's team placed in a tie for fifth.  The University of Tennessee-Martin won the men's team competition and Southern Arkansas University won on the women's side.

 

On the men's team, Sophomore Dalton Kingery (Monroe, Iowa) won the bareback riding competition and Sophomore Coleman Rude (Silver Lake, Iowa) won in bull riding.  Also, Kingery placed second in the men's all-around.  On the women's side for MVC, Sophomore Cassie Harper (Sparks, Ga.) placed second in breakaway roping.

 

Through three rodeos, the men's team sits in second place in the Ozark Region behind Tennessee-Martin and the women's team is fourth.  Kingery currently leads the region in the men's all-around and is second in saddle bronc riding and bareback riding.  Rude sits atop the region in bull riding and Freshman Fenton Nelson (Iowa City, Iowa) leads the region in steer wrestling.  On the women's side, Junior Kacey Stuxness (Appleton, Minn.) leads the region in breakaway roping and Freshman Shea Connor (Malta Bend, Mo.) is third in the category.

 

The fall portion of the 2013-2014 season will wrap up for the Viking rodeo program when they travel to the Troy University rodeo Nov. 21-23 in Troy, Ala.
