The Liberty North Eagles defeated the Park Hill South Panthers 44-36 to become champions of the Cardinal Division of the American Family Insurance Holiday Classic at William Jewell College.
Liberty North capitalized on Park Hill South cold shooting in the first quarter and Jake Hanson was able to drain two three pointers to help propel the Eagles to a 12-5 after one quarter of play. The Panthers shot 22 percent from the field in the first.
The Panthers went on an 11-3 run in the second quarter to close the gap to with one. North then hit another clutch three and went into halftime up 20-16.
North used a 6-0 run and strong play from forward Brinkley Jolly to build a seven point lead after three and led 29-22.
Liberty North was able to close out the game thanks to Park Hill South struggling from the free throw line on the evening only hitting 12-24.
Jolly led the Eagles with 17 points and Jake Hanson was the only other Eagle in double figures with 10.
Liberty improves to 7-3 on the year and Park Hill South falls to 8-2.
