MVC RODEO COMPETING AT COLLEGE NATIONAL FINALS RODEO


Marshall, Mo. (June 12, 2013)- Members of the Missouri Valley College rodeo teams are competing this week at the College Nationals Final Rodeo (CNFR) in Casper, Wyo.  A total of nine MVC rodeo team members are competing at the championship event.

On the men’s side Sophomore Tim O’Connell (Zwingle, Iowa) is currently No. 14 in the standings in the bareback riding competition, Freshman Dalton Kingery (Monroe, Iowa) is placed No. 26 in saddle bronc riding, Sophomore Travis Smith (West Plains, Mo.) is sitting in a tie for No. 25 in bull riding, Senior Cody Metsker (Taylorville, Ill.) is placed in a tie for No. 41 and Sophomore Caleb Buchanan (High Springs, Fla.) is sitting in No. 39 both in steer wrestling and Junior Ben Runyon (Tallula, Ill.) sits at No. 3 in team roping.  
Competing this week at the CNFR on the women’s side is Sophomore Kacey Struxness (Appleton, Minn.) who is sitting in No. 10 in breakaway roping and No. 12 in goat tying, Senior Kelsie Davis (Belmont, N.C.) is in No. 10 in barrel racing and Junior Chelsey Merrigan (Conception Junction, Mo.) is at No. 6 place in breakaway roping.

After Tuesday’s competition, the men’s team sits in No. 31 place in the team standings, while the Lady Vikings are at No. 22.

Events continue in Casper, Wyo. through Saturday.
