LADY VIKINGS DROP MATCH TO GRAND VIEW UNIVERSITY

 

Marshall, Mo. (August 25, 2013)- The Missouri Valley College Lady Viking soccer team played Grand View (Iowa) University Sunday afternoon in the final game of the Grand View Tournament in Des Moines, Iowa.

 

Grand View took an early lead over the Lady Vikings and was able to pull away with 3-1 victory.

 

Grand View's first goal came just 11-minutes into the first half.  The lone MVC goal was scored 30-minutes into the first half, but was a result of a Grand View own goal.

 

The own goal allowed the game to go into the halftime break with MVC and Grand View tied at 1-1.

 

The tie was broken five minutes into the second half, and Grand View added to its lead with a goal in the 79th minute to finish off the Lady Vikings 3-1.

 

The Lady Vikings were limited to only 10 total shots in the game, with just three of those shots on goal.

 

The loss drops MVC to 0-1-1 on the season while Grand View improves to 1-1.

 

Up next the Lady Vikings host Bethel University at Gregg-Mitchell Field Thursday at 1:00 p.m.
