MVC MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY TEAM JUST OUTSIDE TOP 25
Marshall, Mo. (September 18, 2013)- The Missouri Valley College men's cross country team sits just outside the rankings in the latest NAIA Men's Cross Country Coaches' Preseason Top 25 Poll released Wednesday. The Vikings were ranked No. 24 in the preseason poll released in August.
The Vikings started the season with a No. 7 finish at the Eastern Illinois University Meet and finished No. 5 at the University of Southern Illinois-Edwardsville Meet last week. Freshman Phillip Cheruiyot (Nairobi, Kenya) has two top-ten finishes as an individual so far this season, and was named the Heart of America Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week last week.
Along with the Vikings, Central Methodist University is in the "others receiving votes" category, and are the only teams from the HAAC that appear in the rankings.
Next up for the Viking cross country teams is the Cowboy Jamboree at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater Oklahoma Saturday Sept. 28.
